The first Calgary Poetry Slam in February showcased 16 phenomenal poets in front of a sold-out crowd. Now the Slam returns in its second monthly instalment, with the same wild energy, the same dynamic hosts and 10 new slammers!

10 Competitors Only – 5 Slots Remain!

If you want to Slam, show up early, bring a $5 registration fee and 2 poems (three-minute MAX, each) and sign up with Mark Hopkins.

The Winner:
* Receives $50 cash prize
* Goes on to compete in the April 27 Slam as part of
the Calgary International Spoken Word Festival

The Calgary Poetry Slam, on the last Thursday of every month, puts up-and-coming local poets in the spotlight. Selected competitors from the monthly Slam will create a Calgary Slam Team to compete at October’s Canadian Festival of Spoken Word in Toronto, then go on to represent the city in Slams across the continent!
