In October, the Calgary Poetry Slam kicked off its second year! Riding the momentum of the recently-returned Calgary Slam Team, who competed in Toronto’s Canadian Festival of Spoken Word, the season’s first Slam was an intense and energetic poetry experience! Wakefield Brewster – a.k.a. ‘da lyrical pitbull’ – took home the prize: cash, a shot at the 2007 CBC Poetry Face-Off and the 2007/08 Calgary Slam Team, and the chance to perform at this month’s Slam!
