Featuring:
"Love in a Handful of Dust", Kirk Ramdath's epic poem about love and war and language and the power of creativity and the beating heart to triumph over the cold logic of machines and corporate media manipulation.

Also featuring passionate performances by:
Bambalamb! - Niyabinghi Drumming
Sheri-D Wilson - Debut Djembe Performance
Jon Delerious - House Music Legend

MC: Selina Clary, organizer and host of Red Mile Revenge.

This event will be EPIC. Drumming by the world famous Bambalamb! and Sheri-D Wilson will open the hearts and minds of the audience, bringing them to rapt attention. Kirk Ramdath’s poem follows and builds on this energy, taking the audience on a sometimes difficult journey in the search for beauty and love in a world of war and lies.

Then the dance party starts, allowing pent up energies to be released on the dance floor, possibly causing the entire audience to spontaneously combust to the rhythm of Jon Delerious's deliciously dancy deep house grooves.

The party continues into the night with DJ Sublight, and other artists.

Feature Bios:
Kirk Ramdath: Kirk is a member of the 2006, 2007, and 2008 Calgary Slam Teams. He has featured at the Calgary International Spoken Word Festival and Globalfest. His socially engaged and love infused words have taken him to Vancouver and Halifax and many places in between. He writes about love and always in praise of women. In 2008 he received a Canada Council grant to complete a poetry manuscript. The poem "Love in a Handful of Dust" is a grand poetic statement written with grateful support of this grant and Kirk is excited to share this moment with the city he loves. Kirk performs regularly in Calgary and is the organizer of Passion Pitch Poetry.

Bambalamb!: The instinctive art of drumming is primal. It is the heartbeat of all music, the pulse that keeps us alive. The sound of a heartbeat, Niyabinghi drumming is the fundamental element that drives the 30-year career of Bambalamb!. Inspired and taught by roots man Niyabinghi specialist Ras Michael of Ras Michael and the Sons of Negus, Bambalamb! has shared musical vibrations and stages with illustrious entertainers such as Eric Gayle, Alex Accunia, Isaac Hayes, Ice T, Beat Master Vic, and more.

Sheri-D Wilson: Seven books of poetry under her belt, an illustrious performance record, and organizer of the always amazing Calgary International Spoken Word Festival. Her latest book is 2008’s Autopsy of a Turvy World. Sheri-D is responsible for the evolution of poetry and spoken word in Calgary. Continuing her own evolution as an artist and performer, Sheri-D will perform at PASSION as a percussionist, using her hands on a drum to do what she usually does with her lips and her tongue: blow everyone away. Don't miss this.

Jon Delerious: Jon is Calgary’s homegrown house music legend. He has rocked the decks in San Fransico, Seattle, Dallas, Austin, Munich, London (U.K.), Manchester (U.K.), Bilbao (Spain), Madrid (Spain), Montpellier (France), Graz (Austria), Ljubljana, and Amsterdam, amongst others. His music ranges from smoked out dubby house, down tempo to top-notch dance floor chuggers and has been name checked from diverse artists like Gilles Peterson through to Laurent Garnier. Most recently Jon released his full length, No Warning, which received acclaim in such publications as XLR8R and play throughout the world, particularly charting strong in the US, UK, Canada, France and Germany. With over 14 years of DJing experience behind him, Jon Delerious continues to refine his skills as one of Canada’s leading electronic musical innovators.
